Whistleblowing policy

There is no obligation on employers to have a written whistleblowing policy and it may be unnecessary. However, encouraging a culture where concerns are reported at an early stage will make it easier to take effective action to address those concerns and therefore avoid making serious regulatory breaches or reputational damage. The presence of an internal policy also makes it less likely that a staff member will make a disclosure to an external body and that such disclosure would be protected under the legislation.
