Lucy Carter

Lucy joined the firm in March 2016 as a Partner in the Commercial Property team. Prior to this, Lucy was a Partner of another Derby law firm where, for the preceding 11 years, she predominantly specialised in property matters.

Lucy is also a Notary Public, one of only a handful in Derbyshire and one of only 900 throughout England and Wales. A notary is a member of the oldest branch of the legal profession who has special qualifications that are recognised internationally. As a notary, Lucy prepares, authenticates and certifies documents for use in international property transactions and other matters involving foreign jurisdictions.

Lucy’s property expertise includes:

  • leases;
  • conditional sale agreements;
  • development agreements;
  • land acquisition and disposals, including options;
  • site assembly for residential and commercial developments;
  • profit sharing/overage agreements; and
  • residential conveyancing.

Over the years Lucy has built up and maintained a loyal client base due to the thorough and efficient service she provides to both solicitor and notary clients alike.

During her time at Flint Bishop, Lucy has acted for well known house builders and commercial property developers across the Midlands. She also advisesa number of major banks in relation to security and funding aspects and corporate support.

Lucy has acted for a number of schools, education trusts and academies in connection with:

  • the acquisition and disposal of school land;
  • new-build school sites;
  • academy conversion; and
  • inter-academy transfers.

As a consequence, Lucy is familiar with working with such organisations, local authorities and the Department for Education in dealing with issues unique to the education sector.
